Who we are

The MCE Community, former Major Cities of Europe is an active, participatory, and interactive network of cities and regions for Innovation. For over forty years it has been fostering cooperation, exchanging experience and supporting innovation and digital transformation of local authorities and their services to citizens.

The network includes

  • Elected officials and senior executives of local authorities
  • Digital transformation officers (CIOs, CDOs. CISOs)
  • Experts in cybersecurity, data, artificial intelligence
  • Heads of municipal departments (environment, transport, communication, social policy, etc.).

The MCE Community provides a unique platform for collaboration, exchange of ideas, innovation, practices, and solutions.

It fosters a network of urban administrators and technologists who learn from each, tackle common challenges more effectively, and inspire other local authorities to take forward similar initiatives.

The MCE Community operates as a non-profit organization. Its thematic priorities and activities are determined by the local authorities themselves. The academic community is essential in transferring research and innovation results into real life implementations. They collaborate with local authorities in EU research projects. The private sector is welcome in sharing its experiences in the local government market.
