Webinar Modern AI Models: Large Language Models (LLMs)

We are pleased to announce the webinar “Modern AI Models: Large Language Models (LLMs)” organised by the MCE Community.

Webinar information and summary

  • Date: 1/7 /2026 at 4 PM CEST
  • Registration is required – please fill in the attached form – we will send you the confirmation after registration https://forms.gle/vWkBjyGG53Nmf5eY6
  • The webinar will be recorded.
  • Duration: 90 minutes
  • Free of charge

Designed for a non-technical audience, the webinar will provide a clear and accessible understanding of key concepts, with an emphasis on practical applications rather than theoretical aspects. Particular attention will be given to illustrating how these technologies can be applied in urban and organizational contexts.

The session will aim to demystify AI models, enabling participants to better understand their potential and limitations in real-world applications.

Key topics include:

  • A brief overview of the evolution of AI models, from early neural networks to transformers (*)
  • Fundamental principles of how LLMs work
  • How LLMs are trained, fine-tuned, and adapted to specific contexts
  • Contextualization techniques such as Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
  • How to effectively interact with LLMs (prompting and inference)
  • Resource implications (e.g. tokens, computational requirements)
  • Monitoring and controlling outputs, including risk management aspects
  • The LLM lifecycle: from development to deployment
  • Selected practical examples and use cases

(*) This section is intended to provide a basic understanding of what LLMs are, rather than to offer an in-depth historical overview, which would be beyond the scope of the webinar.

Agenda

  • Introduction by Giorgio Prister – President of MCE Community
  • Presentation by Mauro Lavezzari – AI Consultant
