Cities are facing unprecedented environmental and social challenges, making urban resilience and regeneration a top priority for local administrations. True transformation, however, cannot happen in isolation—it requires active participation, innovative tools, and strong collaboration between local governments, educational institutions, and communities.

This webinar explores how cities can foster sustainable urban regeneration by empowering schools and young citizens to become active co-creators of greener, more resilient urban spaces. Drawing from the concrete experiences and tools developed within the Erasmus+ Freeland project, the session offers a multi-perspective look at community-driven transformation from the viewpoints of schools, digital platform developers, and city officials.

Key topics include:

  • The core principles of urban regeneration and resilient city planning.

  • Practical tools and real-world experiences of school-city collaboration.

  • Leveraging digital platforms to empower communities and support local projects.

  • The municipality’s perspective: how city administrations can integrate grassroots and educational initiatives into urban strategy.

  • Driving engagement and innovative solutions through urban Hackathons.

Whether you are a city official, urban planner, educator, or practitioner, this session will provide actionable insights into building stronger synergies between schools and local authorities to enhance urban resilience.

Agenda:

  • Introduction on the Freeland project and urban regeneration principles – Elena Palmisano, MCE Community

  • Freeland Tools & School Experiences – Francesca Ugolini, IBE-CNR (Italian Research National Council)
