Webinar Invitation : Electronic Signatures and Seals

Dear Members of the eIDAS Special Interest Group (SIG),
Dear MCE Community,

The eIDAS Regulation has a significant impact on all European municipalities and regions, covering key topics such as the EU Digital Identity Wallet, Electronic Identification, Electronic Signatures and Seals, and Electronic Attestations of Attributes.

The MCE eIDAS Special Interest Group meets quarterly to discuss the latest developments and practical implications of the eIDAS Regulation. One of the most important initiatives is the EU Digital Identity Wallet, which all EU Member States will be required to make available to their citizens from 24 December 2026.

During our first meeting of 2026, we explored the overall eIDAS framework and its implications for local and regional authorities. In the second quarter, we compared the electronic identification systems currently in use across our respective countries.

Our next webinar will take place on 24 September 2026, from 16:00 to 17:15 CEST, and will focus on Electronic Signatures and Electronic Seals.

Electronic seals are becoming increasingly important within public administration, helping to ensure the authenticity and integrity of digital documents and to verify their origin. Electronic signatures are already widely used in civil registration across many European countries to authenticate digital registers and issue digital certificates.

The webinar will begin with a presentation from our sponsor, G+D Netcetera, a Swiss-based company with a branch in Cologne, Germany.

We are also working to secure a presentation from a leading local authority, most likely the City of Bonn, to share practical experience and real-world implementation insights.
