AI Agents: From Models to Applications

On 8 October 2026, the MCE Community hosted the webinar about AI Agents: From Models to Applications.

Agenda

  • Introduction by Giorgio Prister – MCE Community
  • Presentation by Mauro Lavezzari – AI Consultant
  • Discussion coordinated by Alessandra de Seneen – MCE Community

AI agents currently represent one of the most significant areas of interest in artificial intelligence. Their implementation makes it possible to automate processes that previously required human intervention, opening the way to applications that would have been difficult to imagine until recently.

Designed for a non-technical audience, this webinar follows the previous session on modern AI models and Large Language Models. It will introduce the basic concepts needed to understand how AI agents are structured, how they operate and what opportunities and limitations they present.

Key topics covered:

  • What an AI agent is and how it differs from an AI model
  • The typical structure and components of an AI agent
  • How AI agents use models as their “intelligence”
  • How agents plan and independently execute complex procedures
  • How agents interact with tools, data and external systems
  • The limitations of AI agents and the situations in which they may produce unsatisfactory results
  • Selected practical examples and use cases

The session will aim to provide participants with a clear and accessible understanding of AI agents, helping them assess their potential, limitations and possible applications in urban and organizational contexts.
