Learning city for democracy: Learning how to create active citizens and sustainable community

The Municipality of Larissa in Greece took the initiative, on March 2015, to launch the project “Larissa-Learnιng City”. In the years of Crisis, more than ever, there is the need of a political philosophy towards equality, education and democratic participation. The project is developed in reference to papers published by UNESCO, which presented relevant projects of cities, all over the world, trying to activate all possible resources, at the local level, in order to achieve social cohesion and sustainable growth. The project’s philosophy, the actions, the difficulties and the great challenges of this enterprise towards the future will be described in this conference.
