2025 Issy-Les-Moulineaux – IA au service des collectivités territoriales du VAR
AI is the new essential infrastructure of public service. While the Department of Var has launched a strong initiative to raise awareness with its AI Summit and its first meeting of collaboration with local authorities, the question now is how territories can turn this momentum into a sustainable and responsible strategy.
This presentation will analyze the challenges of AI for the evolution of the local public service, focusing on three major issues, which are also political imperatives:
- Adoption and Experimentation: How AI, by automating repetitive and time-consuming tasks for civil servants, must redefine their role so they can focus on social connections. This transformation is concretely supported by our experimentation approach with use cases identified during ideation workshops, as well as by an awareness plan for staff (AI Cafés, webinars, conferences) and specific training for elected officials provided by CNAM PACA.
- Human Oversight: The importance of preserving human sovereignty over decision-making and training new essential roles, such as data mediators and guarantors, to supervise the systems.
- Ethical and Legal Governance: The need to strictly regulate AI to avoid legal risks and ensure compliance with the new European regulation, the AI Act, by committing to principles of transparency and algorithmic fairness.
The roadmap will thus be presented to make Var a leading territory in the responsible adoption of Artificial Intelligence, through the pooling of expertise and engineering with local authorities.
