Cities have intercepted ICT technologies and used them to deliver solutions to citizens.

In the beginning sensors, IOT combined with application interoperability provided cities with measuring points to measure and thus to understand what was going on.

Further evolutions of the information models enabled faster and cheaper delivery of solutions and verticals. After 2022, this combined with Generative Artificial Intelligence is giving cities a broad and quantitative knowledge of the environment and combined with capability to advice city leadership.

Finally, with the advent of metaverse, citizens are going to be largely participating in the governance of the city creating the citiverse.
