MCE Grand Tour – Cities and Regions in Action
The Grand Tour – Cities and Regions in Action is a proposal for a new format of the 2026 Annual Conference of the MCE Community, which will take place during the Smart City Expo in Barcelona and in the same location of the event.
Unlike previous editions, this is not a traditional conference with speakers and presentations, but rather a process of peer-to-peer exchange of experiences and best practices among Local Government Organizations, Regions, Municipalities, and other stakeholders.
The aim is to create an environment where participants can engage, starting from existing case studies, in meaningful discussions on real-world challenges, and linking the outcomes of the discussion with the solutions presented at the exhibition in a guided tour with selected stands.
Within the context of the Smart City Expo Barcelona 2026, the annual conference of the MCE Community is transformed into a dynamic peer-to-peer forum, where Local Government Organizations come together to meaningfully discuss the daily challenges they face like digital transformation, AI adoption, sustainable development and delivery of smart, reliable, and innovative citizen services.
The MCE Grand Tour gives participants the opportunity to:
- present real needs and challenges
- discover targeted solutions within the Smart City Expo
- exchange experiences and best practices with other cities and regions
- build new international collaborations and networks
Over two days filled with interactive meetings, discussions, and focused exploration of the exhibition, participants actively contribute to shaping the future of their cities and regions.
The MCE Grand Tour – Cities and Regions in Action is open not only to member local authorities of the network but also to a limited number of non-members who wish to become acquainted with the MCE Community and its activities.
