Robin Hambleton
Biography
Robin Hambleton BA, MA, PhD, MRTPI, FRSA, FAcSS worked in policy making roles – in urban planning, inner city regeneration and city management – in UK local government and in central government for ten years before becoming an academic. He served as a Senior Research Fellow at the School for Advanced Urban Studies, University of Bristol and then held professorial appointments at the University of Cardiff (City and Regional Planning), the University of the West of England, Bristol (City Management; City Leadership) and the University of Illinois at Chicago (Urban Planning and Policy; Public Administration). He was the Founding President of the European Urban Research Association (launched in Brussels in 1997). From 2002-07 he was Dean of the College of Urban Planning and Public Affairs at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Through his company, Urban Answers, he has provided advice to cities across the world on civic leadership and public innovation. He has published widely and his latest books, both published by Bristol University Press, are Leading the Inclusive City. Place-based innovation for a bounded planet (2015) and Cities and Communities Beyond COVID-19. How local leadership can change our future for the better (2020).
