Digital Transformation of Health and Assistance Services, as a catalyst for the provision of integrated care: Lessons learned from the Digital Cities of Central Greece

As of 2008, 10 municipalities of Central Greece, have joined forces to formulate a Digital Municipal Community. The Municipal Enterprise DCCG-Cities Net  http://dccg.gr/company-profile/ aim is to boost, via ICT, the development of the region, improve the life conditions and life quality of their citizens and visitors, promote regionalization, generate new jobs, increase the competitiveness of the area and its enterprises as well as improve the local authorities’ processes and services on the fields of e-transportation, e-education, e-health, e-government & e-democracy, geographical information systems, and networks (Wi-Fi, fiber optic, Wi-Max pilot application & operation).

Within the objective for ICT enabled integrated care, the Central Greece Region is one of the pioneers in implementing e-health and e-care services via the EU co-funded projects Renewing Health, United4Health, ACTIVAGE and GATEKEEPER.
